In early November we got to travel to Marysville to celebrate Grandpa's retirement! Although he has retired from his day job, he's staying busy with a new venture... he is following a Spirit led calling to complete the United Methodist Certified Lay Minister program and has joined the church staff to help handle visitation and congregational care. We are all so proud of Dad and excited that he is choosing to use his new found free time to love Jesus and serve others. (Although I'm sure he's still managed to find some time to work on his model cars and trains!) He retired at the end of September and we had a great time getting the family together to give him a belated celebration for this huge milestone.
Norah, Momma, Spencer, Aunt Kristen, and Will hanging out.
After dinner Aunt Shannon gathered us all to play a game. It was a Jeopardy type game with different categories and all of the questions pertained to Grandpa... interesting facts, fun memories, and little known tidbits of trivia. What a hoot!
We all got a kick out of hearing Dad tell stories from his childhood and Navy days. Thanks to Shan for all the hard work she put into this game!
Daddy, Avery, Karly, Grandma, Oliver, Uncle Travis, and Uncle Paul enjoying the game
Since it was just a few days after Halloween all the kids donned their costumes one more time and went trick or treating at Grandma and Grandpa's house. It was cute to see all the cousins lined up in their silly outfits.
We love this group so much. What a blessing family is. Happy Retirement Dad!
