A is for Apple

In late September we made our annual trip to MacQueen's Orchard to pick apples.  This has become a beloved Fall tradition for our family and this year was especially fun because it was Norah's first trip to MacQueens.  Last year we went a couple weeks before she was born (my hope that walking all over the large orchard would induce labor didn't work).  Norah had a great time riding in the carrier on Daddy's back while Avery was busy picking every apple she could reach (with a little help from Mommy and Daddy getting the high ones).

Super Dad! with one on his back and one lifted high over his head. He makes it look so effortless.

Norah got in on the action too!

We have learned through experience that it's really convenient for us to peel and cut the apples all at once when we get home and then make up multiple batches of apple pie filling at one time and freeze them in gallon zip lock bags.  Then, all Fall and Winter long we just have to thaw a bag of filling and throw it in a crust and we have homemade apple pie in a flash.  But of course we had to make one right when we got home though. Avery was a great helper!
