Avery's First Christmas ~ Part 1

It's hard to believe the Christmas season has come to an end. I always get a little sad when it's time to take down the decorations and turn off the music. It's especially bittersweet this year... we had such a fantastic time experiencing Christmas through the eyes of our baby. What sweet sweet memories we made. I'm just not ready for it to be over! We have so many pictures to share that I'm going to split the Christmas fun into three separate posts (so stay tuned for photos from our visits to Marysville and Stow).

Since we knew we would be traveling the week of Christmas, we decided to have our own little family celebration at home a few days early. Erich and I both grew up in homes where it was tradition for our parents to read the Christmas story from the Bible in an effort to center our hearts and get our minds off of the presents. It was a surreal moment for me to sit with my husband and my child and initiate the same tradition in our own home. I am so blessed! The rest of the evening included egg nog, gifts, and the Charlie Brown Christmas tv special. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night!

Reading the Christmas story with daddy

Avery opening one of her gifts from us. It's a walking toy. We thought it might take her a while to get the hang of it, but the minute Erich got it assembled she took off across the living room. What fun!

One of my gifts to Erich was a new stethoscope. He had to try it out on his favorite little patient!
