Over the 4th of July weekend we travelled to Cook Forest State Park in PA for a mini vacation with Nana, Papa, and Aunt Nikki. Summer trips to Cook Forest were a family tradition for the Piland family growing up, so this was a very nostalgic visit for Erich. He enjoyed reminiscing and sharing memories from his childhood visits. It's also a special place for Erich's parents, as Erich's dad grew up spending lots of time there as a boy and it's where they spent their honeymoon. I had a great time being a part of this fun family tradition! And Avery was in heaven with endless attention from family and so many fun things to keep her busy. It was a short visit, but we managed to squeeze in horse back riding, inter-tubing down the Clarion River (my favorite!), going out for a nice dinner, swimming in the hotel pool, hiking, and climbing the fire tower (a very tall, very old, very rickety tower used to keep a look out for forest fires back in the day). I can't wait to go back someday soon to experience more of Cook Forest. What a great trip!
