About a month ago, I tried Avery's Halloween costume on her just to make sure it fit and we talked about Halloween and trick or treating. Almost every day since then, Avery has asked "Is it Halloween yet?". She couldn't wait to wear her Abby Cadabby costume and go door to door with Daddy collecting candy. At less than two weeks old, Norah was too tiny to fit into any costume (the smallest size we found was 0-3 months and she would have gotten lost in it) so instead she got to wear a cute little Halloween onesie. While Erich and Avery went trick or treating, Norah got to hang out with me and pass out candy. Growing up in the country, then living in apartments, then living in a house that faced an alleyway... I never got the experience of passing out candy until we moved to our current house. Halloween isn't my favorite holiday by any means, but I love the joy Avery gets from dressing up and I have so much fun passing out candy to the neighborhood kids. It was a great (but cold!) evening.
Avery and Norah in their festive shirts. The ghost on Norah's shirt glowed in the dark... so cute.
It was a very chilly evening and I felt guilty for taking my newborn baby outside on a cold night. Just to be sure she was nice and toasty warm, I had her in 3 layers of clothes (one was a fleece bodysuit with a warm hood), a hat, in the sleepy wrap (best baby carrier EVER), and zipped up inside my coat. Then we sat on a chair and covered up with a blanket. So in total, there were six layers of fabric between her baby skin and the cold air. She slept like a rock the entire time and I was in heaven with my baby on my chest. No, I'm not normally this lumpy looking... that's the top of Norah's head poking out of my jacket. Most people didn't even know there was a baby in there.
